Kathryn Campbell is the director of publications at St. Paul Academy and Summit School (Minnesota) where she advises CSPA Crown and NSPA Pacemaker award winning publications including The Rubicon (print and online). She is a CSPA Distinguished Adviser and a MN state Journalism Educator of the Year. Campbell’s favorite thing about teaching journalism is writing.
Amy DeVault is a faculty member in journalism and media production at Wichita State University (Kansas) and is the adviser to The Sunflower.
Over the last five years, the student newspaper has earned 11 Pacemakers in print, online, multiplatform and innovation, and they have been named the All-Kansas college newspaper each year. DeVault has been teaching at state and national student media workshops for more than 20 years, starting while she was a visual journalist at The Wichita Eagle. She has been recognized by both KSPA and JEA as a Friend of Scholastic Journalism.
DeVault is president of Kansas Collegiate Media and president-elect of the NSPA/ACP Board of Directors. She helped launch the Wichita Journalism Collaborative in 2020, in which The Sunflower is an active media partner.
Carrie Faust, the current JEA H.L. Hall National Yearbook Adviser of the Year, advises at Smoky Hill High School (Colorado). During her 25 years as a yearbook adviser, her staffs have been consistent Pacemaker and Crown winners. The Summit was inducted into the NSPA Hall of Fame in 2025. Nationally, she served on the JEA Board for more than 10 years and at state level served as Colorado Student Media Association president. Faust has received the CSPA Gold Key, NSPA Pioneer Award, JEA Medal of Merit.
Sarah Kirksey teaches journalism and advises Pacemaker and Crown-winning student media at Ladue Horton Watkins High School (Missouri). Kirksey was a 2018 recipient of the Journalism Education Association’s Rising Star Award. In 2022, she was named a CSPA Distinguished Adviser and a JEA Special Recognition Adviser. In 2025, Kirksey was named the Missouri Journalism Teacher of the Year, the Ladue School District’s Teacher of the Year.
Glenn Krake has advised at West Linn High School (Oregon) for 18 years where his yearbook, newsmagazine and online staffs have earned the Pacemakers as well as CSPA Crowns. He serves as the Oregon JEA State Director and in addition to being named Oregon Journalism Teacher of the Year in 2018 and a 2025 JEA Distinguished Yearbook Adviser.
Gary Lundgren, NSPA associate director manages the organization’s contests and critiques including coordinating the Pacemaker competitions. During his ten years as director of student publications at the University of Arkansas he received the CSPA Gold Key, NSPA Pioneer Award, JEA Medal of Merit and was inducted into the Scholastic Journalism Hall of Fame. The Razorback yearbook and The Arkansas Traveler newspaper both received Crown and Pacemaker recognition. Lundgren also served as director of the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association. In 2014, he received the ILPC Edith Fox King and the TAJE Friend of Journalism. Prior to joining NSPA, Lundgren served 20 years as a senior marketing education manager in the yearbook industry.
Sarah Nichols advises at Whitney High School (California) where her students have earned Pacemaker and Crown awards. Nichols served six years as president of the Journalism Education Association and is California’s state director. With 27 years in scholastic journalism education, Nichols has been recognized as National Yearbook Adviser of the Year and as California’s High School Journalism Teacher of the Year. Other honors include JEA’s Carl Towley Award and Medal of Merit, NSPA Pioneer Award and CSPA Gold Key.
Megan Ortiz advises the Kingwood Park High School (Texas) newsmagazine, online news site and the yearbook. Her staffs have won a number of individual and staff honors including the ILPC Gold Star, CSPA Gold Crowns and NSPA Pacemaker. Ortiz was named the 2026 Max Haddick Texas Journalism Teacher of the Year. She is a Regional Rep for TAJE. She is a JEA Certified Journalism Educator, a JEA Rising Star award winner, an ILPC Edith Fox King recipient and a TAJE Trailblazer recipient.
Alison Strelitz teaches photojournalism and advises the yearbook and newspaper at Westlake High School (Texas). After graduating from Texas A&M University with a journalism degree, she began her career in professional media, including roles at Texas Monthly, The Austin Business Journal and in nonprofit communications. Her student journalists have earned recognition at both the state and national levels. Strelitz serves as the TAJA convention director. She is a 2026 recipient of ILPC’s Edith Fox King Award.
SNO Sites will have a technical trainer on hand throughout the workshop to help staffs get the most out of their SNO websites. SNO powers more than 3,000 news websites for student journalism programs across the country, including 14 of the 16 winners of the 2026 NSPA Online Pacemaker. SNO’s technical trainers work with newsrooms every day on site design, publishing workflow, and digital storytelling tools, and they’ll bring that same hands-on help to Rethink & Reimagine attendees.
